If you are a business owner and you own your own vehicle under personal ownership, you can claim mileage on this. In order to
claim mileage, you must own the vehicle personally and the mileage claimed should be for miles travelled during the course of your business (for example, travelling to and from a clients office).
The mileage allowance you can claim is set by HMRC on an annual basis and is higher than the price per mile you will spend on fuel. This is to allow for other costs associated with using your vehicle for work purposes, such as tyres, road tax and servicing.
To claim your mileage you will need to keep accurate records of the miles you do during the course of your business. Our mileage tracker is a handy tool to log the miles you travel, and will calculate the monetary value of the miles you log. Download our mileage tracker here.
